Dr. Annabelle Rodriguez is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins
University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Rodriguez graduated
from New Jersey Medical School, completed an Internal Medicine Residency training
at Thomas Jefferson Medical Center, and completed a fellowship in Endocrinology
and Metabolism at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Dr. Rodriguez is the Director of the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center
Diabetes Management Service (DMS) and was recently named a Johns Hopkins Bayview Scholar.
Dr. Rodriguez has published many peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in the
area of lipid disorders, diabetes mellitus, and the metabolic syndrome. Her
laboratory has received grants from the National Institutes of Health and other
sources to study various aspects of lipid metabolism. At the present time,
Dr. Rodriguez's laboratory is focusing on understanding the role of the HDL receptor,
SR-BI, in human atherosclerosis and lipid metabolism. She was recently awarded
the prestigious Burroughs Wellcome Clinical Translational Award to examine the
role of SR-BI in human female infertility.
As Director of the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center Diabetes Management
Service, Dr. Rodriguez has established a working relationship with health care
providers at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center, located in Salisbury, Md.
The purpose of this relationship was to provide guidance in the establishment
of an inpatient diabetes service at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Rodriguez can provide comprehensive consultative services to other hospitals
interested in improving the medical care of their hospitalized patients with
diabetes mellitus. Alternatively, the databases that were designed and developed
by Dr. Rodriguez and her colleagues can be purchased separately.
